Make your own flavored water

Flavored water tastes great and is a good and economical alternative to buying fruit drinks. Fruit drinks and soda are often full of sugar and do little good in terms of hydration, so making your own flavored water is great option to spice up your daily water intake – and even better, it’s so easy!  There’s plenty of room for creativeness when making flavored water, but here is a few ideas to some simple and delicious drinks.

The most common flavor when thinking about flavored water is probably lemon or lime, but there is so much more which can be added. Lemon on its own is nice and refreshing, however a combination of orange and lime is absolutely delicious!

If feeling a little more adventurous a combination of lemon, lime, oranges, strawberries and a tiny little bit of mint will do wonders.

Herbs & Ginger

If you want to add a bit of a “green touch” to your water the following herbs are great for aroma:

  • Parsley
  • mint
  • lemongrass.

I don’t use Thyme, Cloves and Cinnamon as often as the above, but they are also wonderful ingredients to use. Lavender leaves can also be added but they are usually not the easiest to get hold of. Ginger is very flavorsome and adds a true energy boost to your drink.

Berries & Cucumber

Add berries to your water and you’ll have a real treat! Blueberries, raspberry and strawberries all add a lot of flavor and can be used in combination or individually.

A favorite of mine is combining blueberry & kiwi creating an amazing flavor. Another simple option is the strawberry & kiwi combination.

Cucumber adds a great taste, so fill up the jug half ways with cucumber slices and voila, a refreshing cucumber drink.

Enjoy!
