Tea tree oil can not be sourced from food, it is only a topical treatment and should never be taken by mouth. Tea tree oil is very concentrated and has a strong smell, and a few drops is often enough to make a difference. According to WedMD there’s no established dose of how much to apply, however the following guidelines of how much tea tree oil to add to shampoo is worth taking note of.

How to get rid of Dandruff using Tea Tree Oil

They easiest way to combat dandruff is to add tea tree oil to shampoo. Simply use your standard natural shampoo and add 10 drops of tea tree oil to 250 ml shampoo. This creates approx a 2% solution. You may increase it to 5%, but it’s advisable to take precaution as some people may experience an allergic reaction or possible skin irritation.

Mix shampoo and tea tree oil together and start using it on a daily basis for a few days or a week until you see a noticeable change. To prevent dandruff you may also add a few drops to your everyday natural shampoo and use it on a daily basis. This will help maintain a clean scalp and prevent dandruff from returning.
